Wendy’s is an American fast food hamburger chain. As of 2018, Wendy’s was the world’s third largest hamburger fast food chain with more than 6,700 locations according to Wikipedia. In this article we list all of the vegan options at Wendy’s restaurants in 2022.

Wendy’s posts the ingredients and allergens for every menu item under the “Nutrition and Allergens” link on each menu page. All of the items listed in this article are based on the ingredient information and other vegan resources.

French Fries

The first vegan item on Wendy’s menu is their french fries! What is better than some hot and crisp french fries? Wendy’s fries are cooked in 100% vegetable oil, however they share a fryer with menu items that contain wheat, milk, and fish so cross contamination can occur. Vegan dipping sauces at Wendy’s include BBQ Sauce, Ketchup,  Mustard, and Signature Salsa.

Homestyle Potatoes

In September of 2019, Wendy’s announced that all of their US based location would start selling breakfast. Included on the breakfast menu are the vegan-friendly Homestyle Potatoes. As with the fries mentioned above, these potatoes are also cooked in a shared fryer with wheat, milk, and fish containing menu items. Therefore, they should be avoided if you are concerned about cross contamination.

A Plain Baked Potato is exactly as it sounds: a baked potato with nothing on it, but it’s vegan! You can top it with Wendy’s vegan BBQ Sauce, Signature Salsa, or Avocado to make it more interesting!

Apple Bites

Another no-frills vegan option at Wendy’s is their Apple Bites. These are simply red and green apple slices cut in smaller pieces.

Garden Salad (No Cheese or Croutons)

Most fast food establishments have a garden salad that can be made vegan-friendly and Wendy’s is no different. The Wendy’s garden salad comes with iceberg and romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and croutons. In order to make it vegan, the cheese and croutons need to be removed.

The vegan salad dressings at Wendy’s include Fat Free French, Italian Vinaigrette, Pomegranate Vinaigrette, and Red Italian dressing.

Veggie Sandwich

Wendy’s doesn’t have a proper veggie sandwich, but one can be made by ordering one of their hamburgers and removing the meat patty. For example, if you order the Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe without meat, cheese, or mayo you will be left with a sandwich of ketchup, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and onion on a bun. Make sure to add avocado to make it more filling!

In addition to their vegan french fries, Habit Burger also serves many vegan-friendly soft drinks. These typically include Coke products, but each location may vary.
