Are Nike Shoes Vegan? We Contacted Nike to Find Out!

When trying to identify if shoes are vegan, there are two main components to look at: The upper material and the adhesives used. As Peta has pointed out, the two most common non-vegan upper materials used are leather and wool but they can come from any animal-based skin or coat. Additionally, some manufacturers use adhesives with animal-derived ingredients in otherwise vegan shoes. The latter component is often more difficult identify as animal-based because manufactures do not disclose this information.

In order to be 100% certain of Nike’s vegan shoe options, we reached out to the Nike customer support team. They informed us that Nike has both vegan and non-vegan shoe options. Obviously, Nike sells some shoes with use leather uppers which are not vegan friendly, but others are harder to identify. Lucky for us, the Nike support representative we talked to was able to give us a list of 179 Nike shoes that are vegan! 

Therefore, some, but not all, of Nike’s shoes are vegan! A full list of the 179 vegan Nike shoes we were given can be found in the following sections. As there are multiple varieties of similar shoes in the Nike line, we do not believe that this is a all inclusive list.
