In-N-Out Burger is an American regional chain of fast food restaurants in the Southwest and Pacific Coast. They are famously known for their burgers, fries, milk shakes, and a not so “secret menu“. At the time of this writing, In-N-Out has 349 locations in the United States with 4 additional locations opening soon. In this article we list all of the vegan options at In-N-Out Burger restaurants in 2022.

In-N-Out does not post the ingredients listed in the menu items or secret menu items, but they do post a Allergen Guide on their website. All of the items listed in this article are based on the information provided in the allergen guide and other vegan resources.

French Fries

The first vegan item we have at In-N-Out is their French Fries! According to their menu, In-N-Out’s French Fries are “fresh, hand cut potatoes prepared in 100% sunflower oil”. As far as we can tell, no other menu items at In-N-Out are fried so cross contamination won’t be an issue.

If you are a fan of crispier fries, In-N-Out’s fries can be ordered “well done” or “light well”. Both varieties are crispier than the standard fries.

The Sauces

Unfortunatly, In-N-Out Burger’s famous spread is mayonnaise based, contains eggs, and is not vegan friendly. Therefore, the only vegan friendly sauces for your fries at In-N-Out Burger are ketchup and mustard.

The next item on the list is the “Veggie Burger” at In-N-Out. Contrary to the name, this sandwich doesn’t contain a burger at all. Instead it consists of a toasted bun with In-N-Out spread, lettuce, tomato, and fresh onion. To make it vegan, make sure to remove the spread and add ketchup and mustard.

To liven up this sandwich up a little bit, there are some variations that can be added to it. These include the following:

Change up your Onions: In-N-Out has 4 variations of onion to choose from. These include fresh sliced (default), raw chopped, grilled chopped, and whole grilled onions. Feel free to add as many as you’d like!

Add Yellow Chilies: Add whole, chopped, or a side of Yellow Chilies to your Veggie Burger to give it a little kick.

Double Toasted (or Non-Toasted) Bun: Not satisfied with the level of toastiness on In-N-Out buns? Ask for it Double Toasted for more crisp or non-toasted for a nice spongy feel.

For vegetarians out there, In-N-Out also has a “Grilled Cheese” which is the same as the Veggie Burger but adds two slices of melted American cheese to the sandwich.

Beverages

In addition to their vegan fries and “veggie burger,” most of In-N-Out’s soft drinks are vegan friendly. In-N-Out sells Coke products along with a variety of lemonades.

Summary

If you’re in the mood for fries and a simple veggie sandwich, In-N-Out could be a great spot for you! Just remember to avoid the famous spread and leave off the cheese for a vegan friendly meal.
